Amethyst Love: Ending

Description

Story:
Mating season; the time of the year that Quill hated the most. Every time this season came up it always felt like he was alone again. Sol would have to leave for a few days on end while Quill stayed at the house dealing with his own urges and desires, making it feel so unfair. Humans were so lucky to not get something like this; oh how Quill wished Sol and him were like that.
A few days ago they had gotten the bonding rings finished with the beautiful amethyst stones, but it felt so cruel that this had to happen now. His emotions have been high from the love he felt from Sol, he didn’t want to leave him alone at all. All he could do, however, was wait.

However, things were different this time around.

After a day of the mating season beginning, Sol came walking into the house. It was late at night so Quill was asleep on the bed, cuddling a pillow.
“Quill,” Sol whispered, gently rubbing his husband’s arm.
“Mmm . . .?” Quill slowly opened his eyes. Luckily he hadn’t been in a deep sleep, but he was rather tired. “Sol . . .?”
“Yeah, I’m back early.” Sol kissed the side of Quill’s face.
“Mmmm~” Quill turned and wrapped his arms around Sol’s neck. “I missed you . . .~” he said in a sleepy voice.
“I missed you as well . . . I want you, Quill. I want you badly.”
A shiver went up Quill’s spine. He had never heard Sol say that before. It was hot. “Evil Sol won’t come out . . .?” Quill mumbled, showing concern in his voice.
Sol chuckled a little bit, “Don’t worry, love, I don’t have that feeling. It’s under control.” He kissed Quill’s neck. A small whimper escaped Quill; he was already getting into the mood very quickly, and at this point fully awake.
“ . . . Can it be like this from now on?” Quill asked.
“I don’t know, but for now I’m taking advantage of it.”
It wasn’t the answer Quill was hoping for, but it was way better than Sol being gone at this moment. He smiled, then kissed him firmly, beginning their night of passion.

--

The night went by quickly. Sol had a lot of energy to give, so their romping lasted well into the morning. It was the best night they ever had, and it made Quill extra happy. They both slept soundly through most of the day; their limbs ached but it was an enjoyable pain.
By the time they both woke up it was the later afternoon. They cuddled for several minutes before they got up.
“Quill, I don’t have to work today, so let’s have a picnic.”
“Ooh, I don’t think I’ve done that before~”
“Well, you have, but this will be a more formal one. I’ll show you.”
Both Sol and Quill got “dressed” and went out to the main building. Once there, Sol made his way to the kitchen area and picked up a few sandwiches, a package of raw deer meat, a few fruits, water bottles and coffee in a thermos. He gathered them all into a fruit basket and picked out a blanket. He gave his hello’s to Jack and his wife as well as various other villagers. He held the basket in one arm and held Quill’s hand in the other as they made their way to the forest.

They went pretty far, but since it was still light out and Sol was big and had strength on his side, they had no worries about creatures. They found a nice spot in the sun, which was surrounded by large rocks and trees. Sol laid out the blanket and set everything out. He took off his shawl and asked for Quill’s shawl as well, then set them to the side. They enjoyed their nice early dinner, sitting side by side while doing so. Quill ate all the fruit and one of the sandwiches while Sol took his time sipping coffee and eating from the package of deer. Once they were full they laid down on the blanket together after clearing it off. It felt like a perfect day.
“Would you like some dessert?” Sol asked. Quill looked to him puzzled. “I didn’t see you grab anything else, though.”
Sol pushed himself up, then crawled over him. “I’m your dessert.”
Quill couldn’t help but giggle. “That sounds so cheesy~ But delicious.” He grabbed Sol’s face to bring him down into a kiss.
And then sex happened. Again.

--

That night they were able to sleep at a normal time, and by the morning Sol was up first. Today he had to get back to work; a new home was going to be built so he wanted to make sure he helped out, since he was the tallest and strongest. He wrote up a little note and set it where he had been sleeping, then quietly left. He met up with Jack who was supervising, and Pierce and a few other villagers were there to help as well. Setting up the foundation was easy, but holding up the wooden boards was a little tough as they were heavy. They worked for an hour before they took a break, and that was when Quill made his way over.
“I got your note, honeyyyyy~” Quill cooed. He still couldn’t get over the fact that they were considered husbands now.
“Heh, I’m glad you could make it,” Sol said, kissing him. “You can help supervise with Jack.”
“Did you two have a good picnic yesterday?” Jack asked, while pointing to a spot for Pierce to fix.
Quill giggled. “It ended too soon! But yes, very good and sexy~”
Jack raised a brow.
While Jack and Quill chatted, Sol continued to lift pieces of wood up, setting them into place. After one more lift, he suddenly felt a heaviness in his chest. He coughed a couple of times. “I must be working too hard . . .” he said out loud, moving over to where cups of water were waiting. He took a big gulp of one and then stretched out his arms, then back and wings. He moved back over to help Pierce bring up another plank, but the heaviness became worse.
“Hey, Sol, hold it straight, will you? You’re about to—HEY!”
The plank dropped as Sol had gripped his chest. His breathing was raspy. Both Quill and Jack looked to Sol in alarm.
“What’s wrong??” Quill asked, rushing over to him.
“Don’t overwork yourself, Sol! Take it easy! You may be strong, but—“
Sol hacked up blood and dropped to his knees. “ . . . It’s h—ard to br—eathe . . .” he managed to get out.
“SOL!” Jack got to his side and put Sol’s arm around his shoulder. “Pierce! Help me out! We need to get him to the main building!” Pierce did as he was told and quickly helped drag Sol over to the hospital side of the main building. Quill was close behind, panicking. “What’s wrong with him?? Why did he cough up blood?? Why can he barely breathe?!”
“Quill, quiet!” Jack shouted. He got him to one of the beds and put him on his back. Sol was trying desperately to breathe, which caused more hacking. His body began to tremble badly.
“He’s convulsing! Stand back!”
Quill was trembling as well, but he was terrified. Tears were already rolling down his cheeks, as he didn’t understand at all with what was going on.
“Pierce! Get Quill out of here!” Again Pierce listened without saying anything, but Quill was becoming irrational. “No! I can’t leave! Don’t make me leave! Please!” Pierce grabbed him and forced him out of the room. As he did so several other “nurses” went in to help Jack, one being Fiona. They shut the door behind them.
Pierce made Quill sit down on a couch outside of the room. “You’ll only get in the way! Let him do his work. He’ll help Sol, so don’t worry. He saved my wife when she was having our second child. He knows what he’s doing.” It was the first time ever that Pierce tried to be nice to Quill, and tried to reassure him. However, Quill continued to cry and shake. He wanted to believe Pierce’s words, but it was hard.
-

A full hour had past. The beginning had a lot of incoherent yelling, but by the time the hour past it was quiet. Quill was alone on the sofa as Pierce had left to go back to his family. Pierce felt like Jack had everything under control, so he felt no need to stick around.
Finally, the door opened. Quill jolted at the noise of the door.
“Quill, you can come in now,” Jack said, no smile on his face.
Quill cautiously walked into the room, and then saw Sol slowly breathing. There was a tube sticking out of his chest and he was blankly staring at the wall to the side.
“He’s very weak right now so please don’t get overly excited. He had blood pooling in his lungs from what looked to be small holes. I had thought that he was overexerting himself earlier today but it seems to be some kind of disease. Did he eat anything recently that could have been bad?”
“He . . . he ate some deer that was in the fridge . . .”
“Fiona, can you bring some of that meat to me?” The little female nodded and was out of the door.
Quill walked over to Sol. “Will . . . he be okay?”
“I think so, yeah. I got whatever it was to stop progressing for now. I just need to figure out where it came from and find out how to destroy it. Sol has a strong will so that helped as well.”
Quill forced a small smile and touched Sol’s hand. “E-everything will be okay,” Quill said, tearing up once more.
“Quill . . .” Sol spoke in a very quiet voice. “ . . . I’m sorry . . .” He turned his head so he could see Quill.
“N-no! Don’t say that! You’re getting better! Jack said so!” He got on his knees beside the bed and kissed Sol’s hand. Sol gave a small smile. “ . . . And thank you, Jack . . . I’m sure you saved my life doing this . . .”
“You just make sure you rest and don’t move around,” Jack said, replacing a fluid drip. “I never thought I’d have to save my best friend, but here we are. We can all laugh about this later.”
Sol’s smile got a little larger as he closed his eyes.
Fiona came back into the room with several bags of meat. “Um, I took them all just in case. I hope you don’t mind.”
“That’s excellent, honey, I’ll take them from here.” He took them from her and brought them over to his work desk.
Quill didn’t pay attention at all to anyone else in the room. He rubbed Sol’s hand and played with each finger.
“I love you, Quill . . .” Sol said, keeping his eyes shut.
“I-I love you, too . . .”

-

The rest of the day and night were uneventful. Quill didn’t leave Sol’s side at all and stayed awake for most of the time while Sol slept, but in time he fell asleep as well.
In the morning Sol woke before Quill.
“Ah, you’re awake now,” Jack said, moving over to the bedside opposite of Quill. “How are you feeling?”
“A little better. Still hurts to breathe but it’s much better than yesterday.” His voice was still soft but it sounded more clear.
“I’m glad. I had taken a sample of your blood and was studying it all night. I’ve found the culprit, but I still don’t know where it came from. I tested all of the bags of meat but couldn’t find anything similar. Did you eat anything else?”
“Just my usual coffee.”
“Did you get that from the kitchen as well?”
“Yes.”
“We’ll test it to make sure but I doubt that was the problem.”
“Maybe it wasn’t something I ate. Maybe I was born with this . . .?”
“Sol, I have taken your blood before and it didn’t look like this. This got in you recently. Another possibility is anything that bit you, like an insect. Those carry diseases all of the time.”
Sol looked to Quill again, then gently put a hand to his head and rubbed. “You know how Quill and I had a picnic deeper in the woods. Maybe something bit me there. I don’t remember feeling anything like that but it is possible.”
Quill groaned a little bit and lifted his head.
“Good morning, sleepyhead,” Sol said, smiling as much as he could. Jack moved away from the bed. “I’m going to go do some tests. A nurse will be here just in case.” He then left.
“You’re doing better?” Quill asked, still sleepy.
“Yes, but I can’t get up yet. I don’t have much energy.”
“Want me to get you some food?”
“No thanks, I’m okay.”
Quill sat up fully, then took one of Sol’s hands again. “When you get better we should go on another date. I enjoy those with you. I’ll even not run away if someone says something mean. I’ll talk back to them!”
“Heh, no need for that, I can talk them down. Just be your lovely self like normal.”
Sol smiled at that, but then it slowly went back to a frown. He glanced outside, seeing the sun shine through the trees. Quill looked to him in worry. Where’d the smile go?
“Quill,” he began, not looking away from the outdoors. “ . . .If I were to pass away from this, I want you to go on living, to be happy.”
“!?” Quill could feel his breath getting caught as a wave of horror went over his face. “Don’t say that!” he blurted out. “You said you’re doing better! Jack said you’ll be fine! Pierce even said he believed in Jack’s work!”
Sol looked back to Quill, seeing tears in his eyes. “Honey,” he said, bringing his hand to his face and caressing it. “I know, I know, I am feeling better. We don’t know what I have, however. We don’t know what it’s capable of doing, or if it could suddenly progress again. I know life for you before me was bad. I’ve been thinking about this a lot, but it’s very possible I’ll die before you, and if that happens I don’t want you to give up. You have friends here now.  I want you to be able to go to them for support.”
“Shut up!!” Quill yelled, more tears coming down. He grabbed Sol’s hand that was on his face and held it firmly. “You’re not going to die! You’re not! You’re strong! Very strong! You can beat anything, especially this! And anything else that comes your way!” Quill was trembling again and red in the face.
Sol smiled again, feeling sorry for bringing it up. “Okay . . . you’re right. I can beat this. No need to worry, okay?”
Quill nodded his head, sniffling.

They stayed silent for a few minutes.
Suddenly the door slammed open and Jack rushed in. “Quill! Give me your hand!”
“ . . .Huh? OW!” Jack had taken his hand quickly and pricked his finger, and smeared the blood onto a slab. He then rushed over to his desk to look at it through his microscope.
“What did you do that for??” Quill asked, sticking his finger in his mouth, sucking on it. Sol was also confused with what he was doing.
“I fucking knew it!!” He moved back over to the two, anger in his face. “Yesterday you made a joke that hinted at you guys having sex, am I correct?”
“Uh . . . yes?” Quill was starting to feel scared with how he was reacting.
“You have the same damn disease as Sol! It’s a sexually transmitted one! And you gave it to him!”
Both shock and horror went over Quill’s face, and Sol was shocked with more confusion on his face than anything.
“It suddenly came to me while I was checking the rest of the food! And yet here you are not showing any problems! I’m guessing you’re immune to it! It has been hiding in you all along!”
“Now hang on, Jack, let’s—“
“You fucking gave my best friend a disease!”
“JACK, STOP.” Sol had raised his voice so loud that his chest began to hurt badly again. He coughed a few times, his hands shivering from it all.
“Stop . . .” Quill grabbed Sol’s arm and clung to it, trying to make his body calm down. Luckily Sol was able to get himself situated again to where it didn’t hurt as much.
“No, I must have given it to Quill . . .” Sol was thinking hard on the last few days, and how events had unfolded.
“What? How? You’re the one who’s suffering—“
“It must have came from the female I mated with.”
Quill stopped breathing for a moment, realizing what he was saying.
“If you’re right that I got this from sex . . . then it only makes sense it came from her. I’ve had sex many, many times with Quill and nothing like this has happened before. I didn’t really notice anything off about her, but several hours after I was done with her, I had such a different urge to mate, and I didn’t feel like I’d just be going off of instincts. But it was so strong . . . I went back home to take advantage of it with Quill, because I knew he’d love that. It has to be that . . .” Sol began to cough again. Talking so much was bringing back the pain. It stopped soon after so he was able to breathe normally again.
“But . . . but if I have it too, why am I not like him . . .?”
“Because you’re immune, Quill. Or it takes time before it shows symptoms. However, if it happened so quickly to Sol, then I am highly guessing it won’t do anything to you.”
“C-can you take some of my blood and give it to him then?? Then he can be immune as well!!”
“That’s not how it works. It has already infected him badly. He needs a cure, but this needs lots of studying to find something that works. I can’t just give him anything to see if it will help, as he could die from whatever I give him. Best we can do is see if we can make it last long enough for us to find something. Quill, I need more of your blood.”
Quill shivered for a moment, but then agreed. He didn’t want to delay with helping find a cure.
Jack took his blood through a vile pretty quickly. It hurt a little bit for Quill with the needle, but he did his best to ignore it. Once Jack had what he needed, he went to work. He had various other containers filled with various medicines and herbs and wanted to see if anything could break up and destroy the virus.
While Jack did that, Quill looked back to Sol, sorrow in his eyes again. “Why couldn’t you have been the one immune . . .”
“Quill . . . no . . .” He did the best he could to reach out for Quill, who simply went with him and moved closer. Sol had both hands to Quill’s cheeks and he used his thumbs to wipe away the tears. “Like you said, I’m strong, so I’ll overcome it, okay? Don’t worry. I told you I was feeling better. Just keep thinking about all of the fun things we’ll do again once I’m better.”
Quill slowly nodded.
“Kiss me.”
Quill leaned in, and he lightly pressed his lips against Sol’s. His lips quivered as fresh tears formed.
Once they released, Sol smiled again. “I love you so much, Quill. I will always love you.”
Quill nodded again and choked up as he tried to respond,

--

The rest of the day was slow, and Jack wasn’t finding any progress in his work. His eyes were worn out. He had taken more blood from Quill (earlier) as he had used up the rest the first time. Quill stayed by Sol’s side the entire time. The nurses had brought them all food, but neither Quill nor Sol were able to eat. They did, however, keep each other’s spirits up by talking about when they first met. Small laughs were had.
As night came Quill could feel great exhaustion. Sol was also very tired, with Jack being the most tired.
“I’m so sleepy . . .” Quill said, twirling Sol’s ring while still on his finger.
“You should sleep, Quill. No need to stay up. Get your rest.”
“Yeah, you both should get your rest,” Jack said. “I’ve done all I could tonight, but I’ll start again in the early morning. There has to be something that works.”
“Sure,” Sol said quietly. “Thank you for all your hard work, again, Jack. You get rest as well.”
Jack nodded, then laid down on the couch that was in the room. “I’ll be here if you need me.”
Quill scooted his hand under Sol’s hand, feeling his warmth. Sol curled his fingers around the side of Quill’s hand in return.
“Sleep well, love,” Sol said.
“ . . . I’ll see you in the morning . . .~” Quill responded, closing his eyes.

Sol closed his eyes with a smile.

--

Several hours had past and Quill and Jack were in a deep sleep. Sol was also in a relatively deep sleep, but something in his dreams told him that he wasn’t going to wake up, and that he couldn’t give his final good byes. Tears formed, then rolled down the sides of his face.
Soon everything became still.

--

Sunlight broke through the windows, hitting Jack. It awoke him easily, so he stretched and rubbed his face. He had a good feeling that today he may be able to find a cure! He glanced over at Quill and Sol and saw that they were still sleeping. He quietly moved to his desk to take out a new vile of blood and began work.
It was an hour later when Quill slowly woke up. His body felt sore from being in the same spot, and position, for so long. He stretched out and made a squeak sound.
“Ah good, you’re up! I’m going to need a little more blood from you soon, but you need to also make sure you eat! I can’t keep taking blood from you at this rate.”
“Okay . . .” Quill said in a small pout. He traced a finger over Sol’s hand before looking more at Sol. Quill’s brow furrowed. Something seemed off about him . . .

Then it suddenly hit him.
“He . . . He’s not breathing . . .”
“ . . . WHAT?!” Jack rushed to the other side of Sol and put two fingers to Sol’s neck. “Fuck!” He got on top of the bed and began CPR on Sol, doing many compressions, then blowing air into his mouth.
Quill got up and took a few steps back, his eyes wide with shock. Things felt like they were moving in slow motion. “He . . . he can’t be . . .”
Jack began to yell with full rage and panic.
All of Jack’s yelling turned into mumbles to Quill’s hearing. He couldn’t concentrate anymore. He could see Fiona going to her husband, since he had gotten off of the bed, still yelling and possibly punched the wall. His eyes went back to Sol and his lifeless body.
Everything began to get blurry and he couldn’t hear anymore. He tried to make a sound but he couldn’t. His mind was racing and his biggest fear has come to life.

Sol died.
...
Everything went black.

 End.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And here’s the final story of Quill and Sol. ;3; I’ve had the idea that Sol would die for over a year now. I’m sure most of you were expecting it, cuz they weren’t showing signs of splitting up. Lol;

But first up this needs to be said:
I WILL still draw Sol (and with Quill). This isn’t the end of him being my character.
Soooo many people thought I was done with Pierce when I showed how he died. Noooo!! I just like showing how things come to an end, but I can still draw things from the past or just for fun things!! Sol may be dead in the timeline but he’s not dead from appearing in art! He’s one of my fave characters!

And even though this is the end of their timeline, I still have much more story to write and show! LOTS more! This is the end of “Amethyst love” and that’s all. There will be a small “intermission” before the new story starts.
And don’t worry, you’ll get to see Quill’s full reaction! That will be in the intermission post.
Now, some things may not be entirely accurate in the story when it comes to medical things. A bunch of it is fantasy so I had to do what I could while still making it sound believable.

Please no critiques of how the story went or anything like that. And no jokes. This was very emotional for me to write out and even upsetting for me. This also includes not making this about yourself. v_v thank you.

Okay so I know I am just now reading this story, but gods be darn. I am bawling my eyes out with tears running down my cheeks!
