Yes, Im back, and a day early! 8D
And, it was an okay trip
really the only nice day was the first one.. then hell came out. D;
Oh, but before I say anything more on the trip
I FAILED AT GUESSING. D8 only 1034 updates? I thought there were sure going to be more! YOU PEOPLE ARE HOLDING BACK ON ME. Hahahahah
Back to the trip.
The first day was clear skies, and we Canoed for maybe 8am-12pm (none of us had watches or the time, however. I JUST noticed that my camera has the time of when I took pics though. 8D
We fished for a few hours
not even a nibble. D|
But, thats about it for the first day. ._. and that night was the only night where I got at least 5 hours of sleep. >>
The next day we packed up our stuff and went to a different camp site about 3 miles further into the Boundary Waters. The whole day was drizzly or rainy. Some wind, but not much.
That night was the worst night I have ever had! And its not because I couldnt sleep much at all
it was because there was a horrible wind storm that night.
Im guessing at around 12-1am, my dad and I were woken up by our tent almost collapsing. It was swaying back and forth, almost hitting us from laying down. Once we sat up, we immediately heard a few cracking sounds and thud!. Trees were falling everywhere! I was completely freaking out! We quickly got our pants and shoes and whatever else to get outside (because its horrible when you cant see whats going on.) The trees too were swaying very crazy-like. We found a huge boulder and hid behind it, away from/against the wind. I was shaking like crazy, from both fear, and coldness. I really did feel like I was going to die in those few minutes. ._. I think we sat there for at least 1 hour, hearing trees fall and the wind blow. The weirdest thing, though, was seeing fireflies from across the lake blinking. But, that made me feel a lot better, so Im happy for that. There was also another campsite across the lake with people on it and their flashlights were going crazy. I didnt know if they were trying to signal us or something because it was always in our direction
When the wind went down a little bit and we didnt hear any more trees cracking, we went back to the tent and went to sleep. Somehow I did sleep for a few hours, then woke up in the morning to silence. ._. Wind is gone! Yay~
That next day was no different from the last one. Rainy with more wind (later on, anyways) and nothing interesting happened
We tried fishing again and my dads friend caught 4 Northern Pike and I caught a Walleye (Minnesota state fish! <3 )., But thats all we caught. We were going to eat my fish, seeing as it was big enough, but after a day of holding it with a rope, we finally let it go.
That night was a lot of wind as well, but not nearly as strong
but, I couldnt sleep at all. Neither could my dad.
My cousin slept through every night like a rock. Jeez, hes lucky!
The next morning, meaning yesterday, we were planning just to canoe as far back as we could and camp somewhere, but we instead went straight to the car, seeing that no other campsites were open. (Im glad, though. |D hahahaha )
That day was brutal to my arms, however. 10 miles pulling the canoe into the wind really hurts your muscles after a while. I was surprised with how many people were out there though. Surprisingly, it felt kind of nice to have other people around.
Once we got to the car, I felt so relieved to rest and just sleep. After an hour or so, my arms really started to hurt and ache, and got to the point where I started crying. It really hurt. It looked like I had invisible casts on because I couldnt straighten out my arms. This morning they feel a lot better
though my dad said they would hurt a lot more today. XD Maybe I have to wait for it
But Im here and Im glad to be back. I really dont want to go back. >> Unless The weather is nice and calm.. but thats hard to tell a few days beforehand.
I did see a lot of wildlife, which included:
Bald Eagles
Deer
Loons (state bird) <3
Some fish (the Walleye and Northern Pike)
MANY mosquitoes (I got bit at least 30 times
Im guessing more)
NO bats. ;_______; Im so sad!
A lot of dragonflies <3
Squirrels (AHH, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! D8 )
Other things, but my mind is dead
awww
